Koreshan State Park Engagement Session

I’m so loving Carrie and Cody’s Koreshan State Park Engagement Session. I love any session with beautiful light, beautiful couples, and beautiful dogs! And it’s actually a really great story how I came to be Carrie’s photographer. Randy and I had recently moved to our new home and I was in the market for a new patio table for our backyard. My in-laws had some great pieces from a shop that was local to the Key Largo. It was pricey but I already knew it was worth every penny, as they both have had theirs for years and its held up so well! The piece I wanted was not on the website so I emailed the company directly.

I received a reply from a kind woman named Mary who just so happened to see my email signature about my business. So as we talked about patio furniture (which I bought!) she mentioned her daughter had just gotten engaged. She offered to get me in touch with Carrie and the rest worked out perfectly! It was such a cool way to come across a new client.

Carrie grew up in the Florida Keys, and she went to school at FGCU. Now, she and Cody live near Naples. They are planning their wedding in Miami, which is great for me. However, we had a hard time coordinating schedules in Miami or the Keys for an engagement session. The holidays were around the corner and nothing was panning out. That’s when it hit me.

I already had plans to travel across Florida and pass through their current town on my way to Rachel and Aaron‘s big day. With any luck, they’d be free to meet up on the same weekend. Well, luck was on my side and they said yes! And even luckier for me, the weather was amazing.

We chatted a little about location ideas and when Carrie said she wasn’t interested in a beach shoot, I had to do a little research. That’s when I came across Koreshan State Park. Everything I saw from there was so beautiful. The morning of their session, we met and they brought their beautiful dogs for a few photos. Everything went so perfect! From finding a little pond with an abandoned canoe to absolutely perfect morning light – I could not have asked for anything more. I’m posting just a few of my favorite images from our time there. Seriously, I could have shared so many more, but I’ll just leave you with these. Now I can’t wait for their wedding in October.
