A few months back I met with Katie and Gabe to discuss the opportunity to be their wedding photographer. To be honest, not too many in-person meetings happen these days. I always offer to meet face to face because I love getting the chance to meet people in person before working together, but in this fast moving world everything is easier through the internet now. Don’t get me wrong, I will still always offer to meet first if they’re somewhat local to me, but typically it’s just easier for some people not to. Katie took me up on my offer though, so we met at a coffee house between her home and mine. I knew right away she and Gabe were such a genuine people and it was clear to me how important her photography was to her and her choice of photographer was a big deal. Needless to say, I was honored that she chose me.
When Gabe and Katie showed up for their engagement session at Tree Tops Park in Davie, I knew we were going to have a good day. It was a cold (for South Florida standards) evening near 50 degrees and the wind was really strong that day. But the light was gorgeous and that’s pretty much all us photographers really want in our sessions! LOL. But when Katie kicked off her shoes and trekked through the park barefoot, that pretty much solidified it. She was my type of client! Gabe just laughed when I made a lighthearted comment about the barefoot look and he said it was perfect to have their engagement session without her shoes because she walks around barefoot pretty much all the time anyway! (Hey, I’m from Kentucky, I prefer bare feet too!! LOL) And if I’m being totally honest, I love when a photo session like this can truly show the quirks that make a person who they are. As the evening went on, we had beautiful sunlight, a barefoot woman and the man who loved her just as she was. There’s really nothing more you can ask for!
