As I’ve blogged about in the past, I’m the leader of a group in Miami for the Rising Tide Society called Tuesdays Together, and one Tuesday in every month creative business owners and entrepreneurs from the area get together and discuss business, motivate and inspire. For the last 7 months (Wow, already it’s been 7 months?!) I’ve had the pleasure of meeting so many amazing people and I feel so honored to get to be a part of this movement of community over competition. In four years of living in Miami and dealing with struggles that were completely new to me in my business compared to the ones I had when I started in Louisville, I feel like I’ve finally found something that I didn’t even have back home. And that’s a network of the most amazing creative friends in the industry that I can discuss business with freely. We talk about our highs and lows and successes and failures and it’s a judge free zone because we’ve all been there and we’re all still there and growing and changing daily.
Every month I’m excited to see the friends I’ve made that are regulars at our get togethers as well as the new faces that come along. Some months we are a smaller group of around 5 or 6 and other months we have a group of around 20 that attend! But our Facebook group has over 100 members and grows daily so I am looking forward to what it becomes in the future. In December, instead of a topic of discussion which is par for the regular meet-ups we just had an evening of fun. We themed it as an ‘ugly sweater party’ and we chatted, had snacks and drinks, played games (Heads Up! for the win!) and my awesome photographer friends (and hosts for the evening) Kristy and Vic brought out their camera and we set up a ‘photo booth’ to capture the fun. Above is the group shot from the evening, and I love it – it’s so full of personality! Have I mentioned yet how blessed I feel to be a part of such a great crew of people? We have everyone from Photographers, to Pastry Chefs, to Stationery designers, Event planners, and more that come to these gatherings and it’s such a wonderful balance. If you’re a creative entrepreneur in the area, feel free to reach out and find out how to join!
